During software development a massive amount of information is produced. By setting up a BI infrastructure you can take advantage of the data produced during SW development and use it to raise your awareness; identify issues, trends and patterns related to test process (quality) effectiveness / efficiency and product quality.

If you look around in software industry it feels like it is all about Agile. Suddenly Agile became the number one trend, a hype and for many a religion. Honestly speaking that is a little bit scary for me as I prefer to make my decisions based on facts. Despite of its promises the Agile movement is not a complete success story. At least not yet… If you read studies and surveys about Agile introductions you are going to quickly realize that many company found it challenging to implement its practices. And also in many cases things got even worse afterwards. At the same time consultants and consultancy firms promise significant and quick gains even in the short term. Then if you talk to old dudes who are in this software engineering business for couple of decades you are going to hear complains that many of the practices Agile claims to be its own are not really new practices but existed for a long time, far before Agile gained popularity. I always wanted to make an objective evaluation of Agile and that is what I want to do now. Or at least give a try as I am almost sure that many will agree but other will disagree with me which is absolutely OK. In order to make it more objective I have collected information from different studies, surveys and fellow software engineering professionals. Even though you may think I am against Agile I am not. So who am I? A fun of Agile? That is not true either. Still I want to get the most out of the trend, understand how they can be applied and integrate it into the engineering practices. Let’s discuss what new Agile brought to software testing. Let’s also discuss what other major advancement are seeable in software testing. Finally let’s talk about software engineering ways of workings and figure out together where our industry is heading to and how software testing profession will look like in a decade from now.
